Golf at La Manga Club If any sport distinguishes La Manga Club as one of the best sports resorts in the world, it is golf. The resort is home to three 18-hole golf courses, each with its own particular style: the North Course, designed by world-renowned golf course architect Robert Dean Putman; the South Course, also designed by Putman and later updated by Arnold Palmer; and the Dave Thomas designed West Course; as well as an 18-hole pitch & putt course designed by Severiano Ballesteros. The magnificent golf facilities also include a Golf Practice Centre, which is amongst the best in Europe and the Leadbetter Golf Academy, where golfers can learn using the legendary David Leadbetters unique methods. These are but some of the reasons that have contributed to the numerous golf awards La Manga Club has won over the years, including Europes and Spains Best Golf Resort, for example in the Todays Golfer Travel Awards 2012, 2013 and 2014, as well being chosen as the venue for top level tournaments such as the Spanish Open and Spanish PGA championships.

The South Course has been the venue for many major professional tournaments, including various Spanish Opens, PGA Championships and European Tour qualifying schools.

A long course, at almost 6,500 metres from the white tees, it has water hazards on 15 of its 18 holes and few hidden dangers. The front nine are particularly challenging with two par 3s in excess of 200 metres and some daunting par 4s, which call for accurate driving between lakes and bunkers. The back nine, although shorter, has a number of intriguing dog-leg holes.
