"Lovely layout designed by one of the most famous golf architects.
Sadly the condition of the course deteriorated over the years but they are doing work to get it back to a better course. Bunkers were terrible fairways weren’t too bad and actually not bad value for what it is. Lovely club house with friendly staff. Buggy recommend as long distances from greens to next tee on some holes and care needed on some of the slopes." - Spiggy

"Played beginning of January, the course continues to be in a bad shape, the greens seem to have deteriorated since last summer, the fairways and rough need cutting. Does not look like they are spending any money on improving the course which will be necessary if they want to attract visitors to the Hotel which is being refurbished.
Bunkers are rock hard with no sand. Most people putting out of them.
Cart paths are very slippery in places .
Clubhouse is being remodelled so temporary sanitary facilities which are basic.
Presently not worth the fees."

"I have rated the golf course as average, based on the below following…
1. My buggy was old and tired and broke down many times during the round
2. Buggy paths were dangerous in some areas and some tees were hard to find due to confusing signage
3. Bunkers were poor - not enough sand
On a positive note…
1. Greens were good
2. Course was a good test (front 9 in particular)
3. Spectacular views from some tees
4. Good price for buggy / golf package
Overall, course has potential for improvement but investment is needed to improve the golfing experience.

"Greens are very good, however the tees and fairways are in a bad condition. Fairways consist of 75% weeds.
Bunkers- no sand in them just grit, have to putt out of them.
Can be slow as they let more golfers on the easier second 9. It can be a difficult course at times, not for an unexperienced golfer.
Friendly staff but price to too high for the condition of the course

"I played it four times with a group of four once and a group of three twice and a two ball the once. The course plays well and whilst you have o be very careful with the slopes I felt that on balance this added to the enjoyment. It was a challenge and you had to think it through. But where the course excels is in the staff. In the restaurant they can’t do enough. The outside area looks tired and but once you’ve had the warmth of service you quickly forget about that. We came back to it from both Valle Romana and Dona Julia as preferred the atmosphere and service.
The course gets bad reviews but as I found it, I dont think it’s fair. The course is good. Greens good, not great. Dona Julia is a better course but this is worth a go. I’m looking forward to going back and playing it again.

The buggy path is seriously dangerous- I had to concentrate more on secure driving then on playing golf
The greens are mostly ok / good
To be fair the green fee rate is cheap but it does not compensate

"The first 9 holes are small between the apartment areas. The greens are really nice, fast and not too difficult. On some holes you have a wonderful view to the ocean. There is only one water area at the 18. It is a very hilly course, but the way between green and next tee is not very far. If you in a good condition you can walk as well." - Isabell M.

"Duquesa was not in good condition, greens and fairways were very tatty and in general the whole course looked badly maintained and needed money spent on it. However at €30 for 18 holes it is reasonably priced and may suit beginners or holiday golfers. I would not recommend it to serious golfers in its current condition." - Huddler

"The course was badly in need of maintenance, buggy was dangerous on the worn buggy paths, with brakes and steering worn. Front 9 depressing with lots of tired looking apartments surrounding the tees and greens, back 9 was better. Fairways generally narrow so easy to lose a ball if not driving straight. Overall disappointing, will not play there again as there are better courses along the coast at the same prices." - The bogeyman

"In one word: terrible! We played with 6 guys (HcP9-HcP17). We play several times a year and want to play as much as different courses between Malaga and Gibraltar. We played over 30 courses but this one was the worst course by far! OK, it was cheap but you cannot offer this bad quality. We will not come back!!" - Papa has won!

"I have played duquesa before , and it was certainly better than this time. The fairways had just been tined and were dreadful. We were also unlucky in that the course was extremely soggy in places and muddy. Generally in poor condition, with no apologies given. I would play this again , but I would certainly enquire about work on the course. Its worth playing for the last par 3 on the back 9!!!" - jen

"This was a poor course. Probably very good 20 years ago, but its not really worth the effort. It is a very tired course, and whilst there are some good holes, it is in poor condition."

"A cheaper course to play and it shows. Fairways are not always as nice, but the layout of the course is SPECTACULAR! We had a wonderful time here. Tee number 17 must be the signature hole (with a drop of approx. 30 meters). Great, great fun to play this course!" - pitchmark |
