"Unfortunately they allowed two big groups before us, one of them with four players more than prebooked, leading to severe delays. Our first nine took 3 hours, totally unacceptable- especially since our starting time was already delayed 20 mins. And also we did not receive our prepaid buggies until we played the second hole.

"We like the layout of Rio Real and find it a very enjoyable and challenging course to play. Conditions were good.
What we don't like is €60 for a buggy, not the dynamic pricing for booking tee times. It's right on the limit of what we will play for a game of golf.

"This was in the best condition of the 15 courses I’ve played here this year. Fairways were excellent as were the bunkers and the greens were good too. Signature hole is the par 4 6th SI 1.
A testing second over the Rio Real to the green. Buggies recommend as some distance between tee and greens. Nice food and service in the lovely clubhouse. Definitely one of the best courses in this area of the Costa that you can get on." - Spiggy

"Interesting and entertaining course , hole design is pretty straightforward but not boring.
It is a small “classic” in its own right and the builders did some little miracles in otder to fit such a variety of looks in a quite tight space.
Fairways in good shape, binkers quite heterogenous as far as depth of sand depth, greens consistent in speed but absolutely complicated.
Cart paths sometimes patchy and bumpy need a little refurbishing.
Holes of relevance scenery wise 7-8 , par 3 number 14(might be 13 don’t remember exactly) is the equivalent of a practical joke … two perfect shots and two balls lost in a black hole we didn’t know existed ??
Buggy recommended, the ones at Rio Real not the latest generation.
In summary : with additional cosmetic efforts the course has the

"Playing rio real for 25 yrs , Its as good now as ever , greens quick and generally the course is in great condition. First couple of drives a little tight but opens up nicely after that. leaving the private members courses aside this is at the top end of the courses on the costa."

"Nice Parkland course.
Fairways were ok, but a bit long, greens in very good condition and fast.
Easy to walk. Nice clubhouse and friendly staff.
We didn’t like the surroundings, most notable the traffic noise from the A7. If this doesn’t bother you, I would recommend to play there."

"I’ve played Rio Reale several times over the years and have always loved the experience, but this time was different. The round took 5 hours with constant waiting on the tee and subsequent shots. We were three golfers in 2 buggies but the starter added a 4th golfer walking with trolley, which changed the dynamics of our day. But worse still we were behind 4 elderly golfers pushing trolleys!!! No round of golf should take this long. The marshal was nowhere to be seen. The speed of play was perhaps not helped by some ridiculous pin placements - on sloping fast greens - guaranteeing multiple putts for all but the low handicap golfers. The experience makes it doubtful that we will return in future years." - Andrew Hurst

"The grass was very fluffy. Not easy to chip.
In comparison with the other teeing grounds the ladies tees
are to long. The lady drive and the men drive are more or les in the same spot. The men can use an iron and the ladies need a fairway wood.
There was no halfwayhouse and no drinks service.
The layout of the course is very nice."
